It is my pleasure to be appointed as President for the Rotary Club of Brampton Flower City Centennial for the year 2022-2023. Our club prides itself on hard working and dedicated members who work tirelessly to make all the change we want to see from the world both locally and internationally.
I would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Ashni Ramsammy, our past president. She effectively managed the affairs of our club during the peak of Covid. Not only did Madam Past President accomplish all of the club’s goals set last year, but she was also instrumental in increasing our membership during a challenging time.
It is a great honour to be entrusted with the leadership role of the Rotary Club of Brampton Flower City Centennial. Our club's main goal for this year is to continue to foster the growth in children's health and education both in Canada and around the world.
Some of the programs that we support include:
- The Brampton Civic Hospital - the pediatric ward to be more specific;
- Because I am a Girl Foundation - which allows our club to continue to advocate for young girls around the world to be able to access health and educational services;
- ICAN Games – which provide inclusive activities for children with special needs;
- The Little Library – provides basic education and literacy skills to young children in a small village of Beehive, in Guyana;
- The Scholarship Program - we award scholarships to deserving high school students from the region of Peel who are going on to College or University.
In addition, we will continue to support a number of community organizations such as: The Victim Services of Peel, The Elizabeth Fry Society of Peel-Halton, which directly supports an important programme that is near and dear to us at the Brampton Courthouse, The Drug Treatment Court.
Over the course of the year, our club hosts 3 main events; The Spring Fling - Dinner and Dance, The Annual Golf Tournament, and our Annual Changeover Gala. The funds raised from these events assist us in supporting these important causes.
I hope that our club continues to inspire ideas and discussions around the ways in which we can make our home, city, province, country and the world a better place!
