It is with great honor and pleasure I accept the responsibility to lead this club for the Rotary year 2015-16.

I would like to thank each and every member of our club for having shown the confidence in me to lead this wonderful and energetic club. I am excited and eagerly looking forward to this year and working with the board and members to make a real difference in the community.

I pledge to continue to do the good work my predecessors have done and lead this club by practicing the Rotary principles of “The 4 Way Test” and “Service Above Self”.

This Rotary year 2015-16, we will continue to support our current initiatives like “Guyana Help the Kids”, the Scholarship program, Breakfast for kids, Breast Cancer Society, etc. This year’s laid out plan is to get further involved within the local community and support more organizations. We definitely want to get involved in a seniors program, support two initiatives that help woman of our community and further support child education.

For our fundraisers, we will continue to have our Valentines Dinner & Dance, Presidential Changeover Gala, Golf Event and add on two 2 more fund raising events.

Our Rotary International 2015-16 President Ravi Ravindran asked every Rotarian to “be a gift to the world” and I am sure everyone can be a gift and make a difference in the world.

Keeping that in mind here is a short story to reflect upon:

“One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked, “What are you doing?”

The youth replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.”

“Son,” the man said. “don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t possibly make a difference.”

After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…”I made a difference for that one.”
